KUALA LUMPUR, (Aug 28) — A total of 52 drug-addicts, including eight women, were rounded-up in a 10-hour operation against illegal activities, code-named ‘Ops BAH’ in the city which ended Thursday.
Federal Territories Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan said the operation, involving 967 enforcement personnel from various agencies, covered areas in Wangsa Maju, Titiwangsa, Setiawangsa, Seputeh, Lembah Pantai and Bandar Tun Razak.
Urine tests were conducted on the drug addicts, where 33 of them tested positive for Opiat, Methamphetamine (16 people) and cannabis (three), he added.
He said 51 illegal immigrants were also detained in the operation which began at 9 pm yesterday.
Adnan said the team also conducted checks at 177 cyber cafes and 127 massage parlours which had been raided before for various offences.
The premises, he said, included seven premises which had been sealed.
“This is to ensure premises which have been raided, the owners/operators will not resume their illegal business,” he added.—BERNAMA
