MIRI, (May 9 ) — Police have crippled two gangster groups, known as “Geng Amir” and “Geng Okaw”, believed to be responsible for more than 10 cases involving house breaking, armed robbery and snatch theft reported in Miri since late last year.
Miri police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee said this followed the arrest of six men, aged between 24 and 43, believed to be the gang members at various locations during the first week of this month.
Following their arrest, police recovered several items, believed to be stolen, like walkie talkie, handphones, gold chain, lap top and foreign currencies.
The suspects were now un remand and would be charged soon, he told a media conference here Friday.
In another development, Gan said police detained a 35-year-old man and seized 54 packets of syabu last Monday.– BERNAMA
