TAWAU, (April 29 ) — The police detained 120 people, believed to be illegal immigrants, in a special “Ops Cantas” in several areas in the Tawau district.
Tawau district police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said they comprised 73 men and 47 women, aged between three and 60 years, and were without valid identification documents.
They had been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action, he said in a statement here Tuesday.
He said the operation, which also involved the Immigration Department, was conducted at several locations, including the town area, Batu 10 Jalan Apas and Batu Lima Tinagat.
Awang Besar said also detained were three men, aged between 21 and 30, when they tested positive for drug.—BERNAMA
