KUNAK, (April 22) — Two men were killed and another seriously injured when their car collided with a four-wheel drive at Km5 Jalan Kunak-Tawau, on Monday.
Kunak district police chief, Supt M Radzali Mahmud said the victims, Pangkuma Bedie, 42, a police sergeant from Sarawak and his friend Wong Hon Sung, 71, died on the spot due to severe head injuries in the 11.27pm incident.
“One of their friends Richard, 51, who was driving the vehicle was seriously injured and is being treated at the Tawau General Hospital, while another friend only sustained minor injuries,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
However, the driver of the other vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
“Initial investigations showed that the accident occurred when the car driven by Richard had tried to turn into a junction when it was hit by a four-wheel drive that was coming from Tawau,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Lahad Datu, a man was killed and his wife and another passenger were injured when their car was hit by an oil tanker at Km78 Jalan Lahad Datu-Felda Sahabat, yesterday.
Lahad Datu district police chief, ACP Shamsudin Mat, said during the 3.30pm incident, the victim, Abdul Wahab Ali, 44, died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
“The victim’s wife Kamisah Lahala, 41, and another female passenger Hasnah Malla, 33, suffered only minor injuries. The accident occurred when the driver of the oil tanker lost control and entered the opposite lane before colliding into the victim’s car,” he said. — BERNAMA
