KOTA KINABALU, (Feb 20) — The Education Ministry will undertake repair work on the structural building of Sekolah Kebangsaan Simunul in Semporna, which is reported to be in dipilated condition, from next May, said Sabah Education director Datuk Jame Alip.
He said, at present, the ministry was in the process of finalising the matter pertaining to the technical aspect and the school building’s repair works specification as well as the issuing of price quotations.
“The department, which is doing a follow-up to ensure the maintanence can be done, is thankful to Bugaya state assemblyman Datuk Ramlee Marhaban for bringing up the complaint while the ministry has been informed,” he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu, Thursday.
His statement was in reference to Ramlee’s statement that was reported in the local newspapers, which alleged that one of the main structures of the building, wall, zinc roof and ceiling were not only decayed but some had fallen off.
Ramlee had alleged that the relevant authorities did not take any appropriate action even though several reports had been lodged on the problem being faced by the school for quite some time.
Jame urged school headmasters, principals and district education officers to send reports pertaining to any damages in their respective schools to the state education departmet for further action to be taken.
