KUALA LUMPUR, (Feb 18) — Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has handed over pilgrimage performance certificates for members of the security forces killed in Ops Daulat in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah.
TH had hired people to perform the haj for the six police officers and a soldier in appreciation of their sacrifices in defending the nation from threats by its enemies.
TH Group managing director and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismee Ismail handed the certificates to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar at the Royal Malaysian Police Headquarters, Bukit Aman in the capital, Tuesday.
“The performance of the pilgrimage by engaging others to do it was in appreciation of the deeds of the national warriors, to ease the burden of their families,” he said in a statement.
Ismee said TH had also contributed RM109,500 to the Lahad Datu Warrior’s Fund, for families of members of the security forces involved, to meet their daily expenditures and the schooling of their children, this year.
The intrusion also saw eight police personnel killed in Kampung Tanduo and in Semporna when they were attacked by terrorists on March 1 and 2. Two soldiers also died.
A successful offensive resulted in 68 terrorists being shot dead and 173 people detained under the Security Offences Act (Special Measures) 2012, and 443 others for various offences. –BERNAMA
