ALOR GAJAH,( July 22) — The police have remanded for seven days from today a supermarket employee and his wife whose 24-month-old daughter died two days ago following what is suspected to be physical abuse.
The girl died of injuries to the head caused by what is believed to be a hard and blunt object at her home in Pulau Sebang here, said Alor Gajah Police deputy chief DSP Razali Sabar.
The post mortem also revealed two cracks, of 12-cm and eight-cm length, on the back of her head, he told reporters.
He said there were fresh bruises on her forehead, arms and nose and old bruises on her hands and left leg.
Razali said the girl’s 26-year-old mother, a housewife, found her lying in the living room when she came out of the bathroom at about 5.30 pm on Monday.
The woman and her 36-year-old husband rushed the girl, the youngest of three siblings, to the Tampin Hospital, he added.
“A medical specialist at the hospital confirmed that the girl had died,” he said, adding that the body was then taken to the Seremban Hospital for the post mortem.– BERNAMA
