KUALA LUMPUR, (June 25 ) — An assistant technician who turned wild after his parents refused to discuss his marriage plan was sentenced to 20 days’ jailed and fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate’s Court today for committing mischief and criminally intimidating them.
Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris handed down the sentence after Mohamad Ridzuan Mohd Tajudin, 34, pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was ordered to serve the jail sentences from the date of his arrest, which was last June 23.
On the first count, Mohamad Ridzuan was charged with committing mischief against his father, Mohd Tajudin Jaafar, 72, and mother, Fatimah Sanin, 75, by damaging electrical appliances and the house gate, involving losses of RM3,000.
The offence was committed at house No 3 Jalan Ikhlas 5, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, at 4.50 pm last June 23.
The charge, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to two years or fine or both, if found guilty.
He was also charged with criminal intimidation by threatening to punch his father on the face.
The charge, under Section 506 of the same law, carries an imprisonment for up to seven years or fine or both, if found guilty.
Mohd Rehan sentenced Mohamad Ridzuan to 14 days’ jail and fine RM2,000, in default two months’ jail for committing mischief and 20 days’ jail for criminal intimidation, to be served concurrently.
During mitigation, lawyer Ahmad Redza Mohd Noh, representing Mohd Rehan said, an older brother of his client was planning to send the accused for psychiatric treatment because of his bad-temper.
He said Mohd Rehan was the youngest of five siblings and stayed with his parents.
