KOTA KINABALU, (Sabah, Malaysia) — The People’s Republic of China Consulate-General opened its doors in Sabah here Monday.
Its Consul-General Chen Peijie said the consulate-general’s office here is the second after the one in Kuching, Sarawak and another was expected to be opened in Penang soon.
She said the office would further strengthen the existing relationship between China and Sabah as well as Labuan.
“Overall here we have eight staff and six of them are diplomats,” she told reporters after the opening ceremony of the consulate-general.
Also present were China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang, Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary (East Asia Division) Sudha Devi and Labuan Corporation chairman Rozman Isli. — BERNAMA
