LAHAD DATU, (March 29) — Police detained two men and seized drugs, suspected to be syabu weighing 2011.92 grams and worth about RM250,000, in a raid around the city centre, here on Friday.
Lahad Datu OCPD, ACP Hamzah Ahmad said both suspects, believed to be Malaysian nationals aged 46 and 47, were detained at 2pm after police received information from the public on the drug trafficking activities at a car parking area in the town centre.
Two packets, believed to contain syabu weighing more than two kilograms, were found in a bag carried by one of the suspects, he told a media conference at the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters, Sunday.
Hamzah said preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs were for distribution in Sabah.
He said both suspects were being remanded for nine days beginning Saturday and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. –BERNAMA
