KUALA LUMPUR, (Jan 30 ) — The weatherman has forecast Category One north-easterly winds with speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres in the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, eastern Johor and Sarawak and the West Coast, Interior and Sandakan divisions of Sabah from Sunday to Tuesday.
These conditions will be dangerous for small boats as well as sea sports and recreational activities, said the Meteorological Services Department.
It also said that similar winds were expected in Labuan and Sulu from tomorrow to Tuesday, and in Samui, Tioman, Bunguran, Reef South and Kuching from Sunday to Tuesday.
The department said in a statement that Category Two north-easterly winds with speeds of 50 to 60 km per hour and waves as high as 4.5 metres were expected in the waters off Condore, Reef North, Layang-layang and Palawan up to Tuesday.
It warned that these conditions were dangerous for all shipping and coastal activities, including ferry services and fishing.
The department said the thunderstorms in the waters off Reef South were expected to prevail up to this evening, with wind speeds of 50 km per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres.
It also said that thunderstorms, with wind speeds of 50 km per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres, in the waters off Selangor as well as Mukah, Bintulu and Miri in Sarawak were expected to prevail up to this evening.
These wind conditions were dangerous for small boats as well as sea sports and recreational activities, it added.—BERNAMA
