KUALA LUMPUR, (Dec 31 ) — Johor saw a rise in the number of flood evacuees Wednesday afternoon while there was no change in Pahang and Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu saw a drop, compared to in the morning.
In JOHOR, the number of evacuees rose to 181 from 172. They are being housed at seven evacuation centres in Batu Pahat and Segamat.
In PERAK, the number of evacuees in the Perak Tengah, Kuala Kangsar, Hulu Perak, Kerian and Manjung districts dropped to 7,273 from 7,748 this morning.
A spokesman of the Perak National Security Council said the number of evacuees in Perak Tengah stood at 4,921; Kuala Kangsar, 1,194; Hulu Perak, 797; Kerian, 321 and Manjung, 40.
In KELANTAN, the number of evacuees dropped to 96,259 from 110,747 Tuesday night.
Kelantan Welfare Department director Nik Omar Nik Abdul Rahman said Tanah Merah district had 30,000 evacuees; Kota Baharu, 24,077; Tumpat, 19,323; Machang, 7,514; Gua Musang, 6,493; Kuala Krai, 5,645; Pasir Mas, 3,015 and Pasir Putih, 192.
In TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees dropped to 12,504 from 15,975 in the morning.
The Terengganu National Security Council portal reported that Dungun district had 6,225 evacuees; Kemaman, 6,063; Kuala Terengganu, 201 and Hulu Terengganu, 15.
In PAHANG, there was no change in the number of evacuees, with 51,356 being accommodated at 254 relief centres in eight flood-hit districts.—BERNAMA
