KUALA LUMPUR, (Oct 27) — The police will monitor Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s talk at the Universiti Malaya (UM) tonight, and will act if there is any provocation.
Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said, although the talk was under the jurisdiction of the university management as it was held in the campus, the police would still monitor it.
“Yes, we will monitor by conducting patrols from time to time at the university.
“Although it is under UM’s jurisdiction, the police will act if there is provocation, or a gathering takes place outside the university’s fence,” he said when contacted by Bernama Monday.
Muhammad Azlee said this when asked to comment on Anwar’s talk in which he wanted to impart his message, entitled ’40 Years, from Universiti Malaya (UM) to Prison’ at the university.– BERNAMA
