MIRI, (Sept 24) — Police found no politicians involved with gangsterism in Sarawak, said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh.
He said the police had identified 16 gangster groups in Sarawak, with members totalling not more than 1,000 local people.
Most of the groups are active in Sibu, he told a media conference after a meeting with CID heads and senior officers here Wednesday.
He said the findings were made following Op Cantas conducted in the state to curb gangsterism, organised crimes and crime of violence in Sarawak.
He gave the assurance that gangsterism in Sarawak was still under control and there was no need for the public to fear for their safety.– BERNAMA
