JOHOR BAHARU, (4 Sept) — Police have obtained an order to remand lawyer Kamal Hisham Jaafar, who was re-arrested yesterday, for seven days from Friday.
The order was issued by Magistrate’s Court Senior Assistant Registrar Nabilah Md Ruslan.
Kamal Hisham’s lawyer, G.K Sritharan, told Bernama, that the remand order was issued to facilitate police investigation into several cases, involving criminal breach of trust and defamation, allegedly committed by his client.
Kamal Hisham, 45, was re-arrested at the Sessions Court premises here yesterday, two hours after he posted bail for two charges of criminal breach of trust.
He had pleaded guilty to both the charges and was allowed bail of RM300,000 in two sureties pending mention of the cases on Sept 30.
A fugitive of the Malaysian police since three years ago, he was detained by the Singapore police at 11.15am two days ago soon after he entered the country via the Changi International Airport on Tuesday from the Middle East.– BERNAMA
