KUALA LUMPUR, (Sept 3) — An air-conditioning repairman was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today for dishonest misappropriation of a credit card belonging to a police officer to purchase goods at a supermarket here last April.
Muhamad Yusri Abidin, 38, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He was charged with using the credit card belonging to Ong Saw In, 49, of the Cheras Police College, to make purchase, worth RM606, at the Levi’s Boutique, The Mines Shopping Fair, Jalan Dulang, Seri Kembangan here at 4.11 pm last April 13.
The charge, under Section 403 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to five years and whipping and is also liable to fine, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Najwa Bistamam, who prosecuted, offered bail at RM6,000 in one surety, but lawyer V.Samynathan, representing Muhamad Yusri, his client had to support a wife and two children and only earned RM1,500 a month.
Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin set bail at RM2,500 in one surety and fixed Oct 6 for mention.– BERNAMA
