KUALA LUMPUR,( July 13) — A police officer and a businessman were among five charged at the Magistrate’s Court here Monday with conspiracy to commit murder.
ASP Haris Faddila Hasim, 39, businessman Lau Ngik Yin, 45, were accused of committing the offence together with former police officers Mohd Nizam Manshor, 34, and Indra Zaidi Zamani, 32, and Lau’s bodyguard, Zainuddin Rosman, 36.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at the Westin Hotel, Jalan Bukit Bintang here between April to Jun 15, 2015.
The charge, under section 120B (1) of the Penal Code for criminal conspiracy, carries the death penalty or a minimum jail term of two years, if found guilty.
No plea was recorded after the charge was read before Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin.
Haris Faddila was represented by lawyer Gobindh Singh Deo, while lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah represented Lau and his bodyguard, Zainuddin.
Mohd Nizam and Indra Zaidi were represented by lawyer Datuk Baljit Singh while deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharudin Wan Ladin appeared for the prosecution.
