BUTTERWORTH, (May 13) — Police do not rule out the possibility that the killing of a debt collector in Taman Carissa, Mak Mandin, here yesterday could be the work of someone who was dissatisfied with the man.
Seberang Perai Utara OCPD, ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said initial police investigation revealed that Goh Wooi Loon, 31, had just collected money from several debtors in the area before he was shot from behind.
“Further investigation is ongoing and police do not rule out the possibility that the victim was shot because his debtors were unhappy with the way the repayment was being handled by the man,” he said here Wednesday.
In the incident yesterday, Goh was shot dead while riding a motorcycle in the backlane of a row of shophouses in Taman Carissa, Mak Mandin, by a man who was believed to have been pursuing him on another motorcycle.
Abdul Rahman said police had recorded statements from several witnesses at the scene of the crime to assist in the investigation.
Police also do not rule out the possibility that some cash belonging to the victim had been stolen by the suspect who had shot him because the debt repayment money collected by the victim was reported missing, he said.– BERNAMA
