KUALA LUMPUR: — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday said that he hoped that the appointment of Datuk Mohammad Mentek as the new Secretary-General of the Ministry of Urban Well-Being, Housing and Local Government will inspire Sabahans.
“As the first son of Sabah to hold the post of secretary-general at the federal level, I hope that this appointment will encourage Sabah citizens to enter the federal civil service,” Najib said in his posting on Facebook.
He said he was confident there were many young Sabahans with the calibre and spirit to serve and contribute to the national development agenda.
Mohammad, 51, received his letter of appointment, effective May 27, from the Prime Minister in Putrajaya Friday.
The former director-general of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) takes over from Datuk Seri Arpah Abdul Razak who has retired.
