ALOR SETAR, (March 18) — Police arrested a farmer and seized 21 packets of water believed to be ketum drinks at Jalan Kuala Sanglang, Sanglang, Air Hitam yersterday morning.
Kubang Pasu police chief Supt Abd Rahim Abdullah in a statement today said in the 12 midnight incident, the suspect in his 30s had attempted to escape to evade arrest.
Physical examination on the suspect found that he was holding a sack which contained about 7 litres of liquid (21 packets) believed to be ketum drinks.
Abd Rahim said, initial investigation found that the suspect had been involved in the activity for the past one month, selling a packet of ketum drink at the price of RM2.
“The suspect had no previous criminal record and claimed that he received the supply from a local man named Jit,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 30(30) of the Poisons Act 1952.—BERNAMA
