KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 (Bernama) — The flood situation in Kelantan is still critical with 111,376 victims at the relief centres this afternoon, while the situation in Perlis and Selangor has returned to normal.
In KELANTAN, Kuala Krai district still has a high number of flood evacuees at 23,169 although the flood waters are subsiding.
According to the state Social Welfare Department’s flood operations room, this was because many of the victims could not return home as they had no food supply.
However, the latest figures on the number of flood evacuees in other districts could not be confirmed at this point due to communication problems.
It is still cloudy in Kota Baharu and the water level in Sungai Pengkalan Chepa has been observed to be rising.
In PERLIS and SELANGOR, the situation has returned to normal after the flood waters subsided. All the evacuees were allowed to return home and the flood relief centres closed.
However, in TERENGGANU, Dungun district recorded a sharp increase in the number of evacuees to 10,938 this afternoon from 8,683 in the morning.
