SERIAN, (Sept 12) — A syndicate hoarding controlled goods like sugar and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders without permits in Tebedu near the Malaysia-Indonesia border was foiled when its warehouse here was raided by the General Operations Force (PGA) yesterday.
Commanding Officer of the Sarawak Brigade PGA’s 11th Battalion, Supt Soh Hock Seng said the activities in the warehouse were detected after a two-week surveillance work by the team.
“In the raid conducted at 1 pm yesterday by seven PGA members led by ASP Mohd Mazlan Mohd Ariff together with six officers from the Sarawak Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (PPDNKK), 753 sacks of sugar, each weighing 50 kilogrammes, and 101 LPG gas cylinders weighing 14 kilogrammes each were seized,” he told Bernama here today.
He said the team also arrested a man, 44, believed to be the owner of the warehouse.
Soh said the value of the seized items was estimated at RM120,000.– BERNAMA
