JOHOR BAHARU,( Sept 3) — The police seized a Smith and Wesson pistol with nine bullets from a man in Persiaran Tanjung Satu on Aug 28, Johor police deputy chief Datuk Ismail Yatim said Wednesday
The police also confiscated a motorcycle and a BMW car, he said.
Ismail said the police detained two men and a woman aged between 30 and 54 in raids in separate areas in Tampoi.
“Investigations showed that all of them were involved in drug activities around Johor Baharu. The suspects have been remanded for seven days until tomorrow,” he told a press conference at the North Johor Baharu police headquarters.
He said the case was investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 which provides for a 14-year jail term and up to six strokes of the rotan.
Ismail said one of the suspects had nine previous records under Section 307 of the Penal Code and the Dangerous Drugs Act.—BERNAMA
