BUTTERWORTH, (Aug 24) — Investigations into the crash of Malaysian Airlines’ flight MH17 will take time as it is being conducted by an international investigation team, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein.
He said the Malaysian investigation team was recently included in the international crime investigation scene to probe the tragedy.
He said at this point, the international investigation team is still gathering evidence.
“The inclusion of Malaysia in the international investigation team is the first step for us to bring justice to the victims’ families,” he said after opening the Umno Bagan divisional delegates’ meeting here Sunday.
He said the Malaysian government had promised the victims’ families that parties responsible for the tragedy would be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, Hishamuddin who is also Umno vice president, urged Penang Umno not to remain passive but rise above the challenges they had to face, following the Barisan Nasional (BN)’s loss of the state mandate seven years ago.
“We must have confidence that one day Umno and the BN will rise to wrest the state,” he said.
Citing his own experience, Hishammudin said he was challenged by then Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to rehabilitate a fractured Umno Pemuda.
“Tun gave me six months and if I fail, I would have to resign. “Alhamdulillah I passed the test and Pemuda was acknowledged again,” he said. — BERNAMA
