KOTA KINABALU, (May 29 ) — All federal departments and agencies in Sabah are required to fly the national flag at half mast for seven days from today as a mark of respect for the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.
Sabah federal secretary Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan said in a statement Thursday that their cooperation in the matter would be highly appreciated.
Sultan Azlan Shah passed away at 1.30 pm yesterday at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur. His Royal Highness was 86.
The remains of the late sultan were laid to rest at the royal mausoleum in Kuala Kangsar today after the ‘Asar’ prayers in the late afternoon.
Sultan Azlan Shah ascended the Perak throne on Feb 3, 1984.
The Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, was proclaimed the 35th Sultan of Perak at the Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar today.—BERNAMA
