BEIJING, May 30 (Bernama) — Another packed itinerary awaits Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the fourth day of his visit to China.
Najib, who is here to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, travelled Friday morning to the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
He officiated at the “Persidangan Antarabangsa Pengajian Melayu 2014: Hubungan Malaysia-China bagi kali ke-7” (7th International Conference on Malay Studies 2014: Malaysia-China Relations).
About 200 people, among them 138 speakers and paper presenters from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Holland, South Korea and Thailand, are taking part in the conference.
Najib then will tour the research and development centre of Huawei, one of the world’s top telecommunications companies, in the Zhongguancun Environmental Protection Park.
Huawei has over 70,000 product and solution R&D employees, comprising more than 45 per cent of its total workforce worldwide.
It has set up 16 R&D centres in countries that include China, Germany, Sweden, the United States, France, Italy, Russia and India.
Najib will then go to the Nuijie Mosque for Friday prayers.
Later Friday, Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People’s Congress, will call on Najib and subsequently the Malaysian prime minister will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Xi, who visited Malaysia last October, will host a private dinner for Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. — BERNAMA
