SANDAKAN, (March 4 ) — Sabah Marine Police detained 17 illegal immigrants on suspicion of entering the country illegally via the waters of Sandakan, on Sunday.
Sabah Region 4 Marine Police commander ACP Mohamad Madun said 12 of the illegal immigrants detained were adults comprising seven men and five women, aged 20 to 44.
He said five others were children, aged between one to eight.
According to Mohamad Madun, four boats, including three speed boats used by the illegal immigrants were seized during Op Cantas Khas, in the waters near Pulau Nunuyan and Sungai Batu from 9.30pm to 11pm.
All the illegal immigrants were from the Philippines, he said in a statement here, Tuesday.– BERNAMA
