Two National Service (NS) camps in Sabah that were closed in March this year because of security concerns following the Sulu militants intrusion in Lahad Datu, will be reopened soon.
According to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein the San Shui camp in Tawau and Bagai Budi camp in Sandakan, both located in the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) area will resume training activities as there are no longer security threat around the area.
Hishammuddin disclosed this after launching the NS camps open house at Padang Hijau camp in Kluang, Johor.
The two camps will resume intakes of trainees beginning August 15.
There are a total of seven national service camps in Sabah. They are located in Tambunan, Kota Belud, Tuaran , Papar, Sipitang, Tawau and Sandakan. — Insight Sabah
